Graduation Ceremonies 2008
The Semester One, 2009 graduation ceremonies will be held at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre for students attending a Perth Ceremony. The next graduation ceremony for students graduating from ECU Southwest will be held at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre in April 2009.
The cut off date for these ceremonies for Student Administration purposes is January 16 2009. If your record does not list you as having the status " course completed " by this date you will NOT be able to graduate at this ceremony. Please note that the University is required to complete several time-consuming administrative steps between the completion of your final units and this deadline, so you should not take your inclusion in a particular graduation ceremony to be confirmed until your statement of academic record shows your status as "course completed".
Students should ensure that the University has an accurate record of their personal details. In particular, your name and current address. The name on the student record system is the name which will appear on the degree parchment. All information will be posted to the last recorded address. Students who wish to change their names for any reason must provide written certified documentation for verification. This information should be supplied to the Student Central on the students' home campus.
Parchments are produced well before graduation dates and changing names is a lengthy and expensive process. Please ensure that any change to personal details is recorded with Student Central as soon as it occurs.
Intending graduates should ensure that the words "Course Completed" appear on their Statement of Academic Record. If this does not appear students are advised to contact the Assessments Office via assessments@ecu.edu.auThis information has been written to assist you with the graduation process. At the end of this page you will find a checklist. Take a few minutes to look this over and ensure that you have covered all the points. If you cannot answer "yes" to every question it may mean you are ineligible to graduate.
Ceremony Attendance
All graduating students must be at the venue at least one hour prior to the commencement time of their ceremony.
This is to ensure that they are seated correctly to cross the stage for presentation of their parchment and also to allow for a briefing session on the ceremony.
If you find you are unable to attend your graduation ceremony please let us know immediately. Graduands are seated in alphabetical order and your absence will have a direct bearing on your fellow graduands and the smooth running of the ceremony. If you have accepted the online invitation and registered to attend and then find you are unable to attend please contact our office.
Calling List
When you are called to stage to receive your degree it may be by someone who doesn't know you, so it is important that you let us know if the pronunciation of your name is unusual (this can be done via the 'YOUR DETAILS' section of the online invitation).
For example your name my have a variety of pronunciations - Lisa - 'sounds like Leesa' or Hough 'rhymes with huff'.
You will be called to stage by the name that appears on your parchment and, remember, this is taken from the names that appears on your invitation so please ensure that it is correct.
