Green Photocopying

A photocopier that is left on continuously for seven years (over a standard 2 million copies life) can consume up to:

  • $1,500 of electricity
  • $24,000 of paper
  • $15,000 of toner

If this same photocopier was operated in an energy efficient and environmentally friendly manner, over the seven years it may:

  • Reduce electricity consumption by up to 80% and therefore save money.
  • Halve the paper and toner bill.
  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions from electricity, paper and toner by up to 75%.
  • Save up to 50 trees which would have been otherwise chopped for paper!

Some environmentally friendly tips to consider when photocopying...

  • Copy double sided, otherwise known as DUPLEX!
  • Use recycled paper (Green paper from Corporate Express)
  • Consider using once-used paper for draft or non-official documents.
  • Stop and think before copying....'Do I need a hard copy of this?'
  • Engage the 'low-power' stand-by button when you have finished photocopying.
  • Turn the photocopyer OFF at the power point at the end of the working day, during periods of long inactivity and especially during Christmas close-down.
  • Save you photocopying jobs during the day and do one bulk copying job. This will save repeated charge-up enegy expenditures.
  • Use remanufactured toner cartridges and recycle them once they are empty.
