What Is VPN?
Short for virtual private network, these systems use
encryption and other security mechanisms to ensure that only authorised
users can access the network and that the data cannot be intercepted.
Some services at ECU are not available directly from the
internet as the service is classed for sensitivity and security reasons
as being an internal service only. The ECU VPN service provides a
secure communication path back to the campus network over the internet.
Unless these steps are taken to secure your
communications, your private information -- such as usernames,
passwords, payroll information and email messages -- may be intercepted
by malicious users.

VPN Client' in your Start Menu.

This will open the VPN Client authentication window (see below). Enter
your usual
Active Directory username and password (this is the same password that
is used when authenticating via the proxy servers and the one used for
your Exchange / Outlook connection.)
