Information for STUDENTS

Please click here for the NEW UNIVERSITY SMARTCARD
Please DO NOT punch holes in the University SmartCard OR it will not function.

UNIVERSITY SMARTCARDS
are available from MMR on each campus.

A UNIVERSITY SMARTCARD will be issued free of charge:
* to all students

A replacement UNIVERSITY SMARTCARD will cost $10 except:
* when students have legally changed their name and have advised student services
* for stolen UNIVERSITY SMARTCARDs but only when a police report number can be provided
* when students transfer to another course that requires a different UNIVERSITY SMARTCARD format (eg Nursing)
* when students have completed a degree and are commencing a new degree


External students
:
are also entitled to a UNIVERSITY SMARTCARD.

Here's how:

Step 1: NEW External ECU Students, if you haven't already done so
please activate your computer account here: Activate Student ECU Account

Step 2: If you want to use the card for Transperth travel you need to
authorise your details at: University ID Card: Transperth Consent Declaration Webpage
BEFORE APPLYING FOR A CARD.

Step 3: You can request a card either by
email (BUT ONLY BY USING YOUR ECU STUDENT EMAIL ACCOUNT) OR regular post.

By email: Attach a digital photo with

a) A head & shoulders image
b) A plain background
c) No date/time stamp
d) No head gear i.e caps or sunglasses etc.
e) In focus

to your ECU student email
account and send to mmr.jo@ecu.edu.au. In the body of the email
include your name, student number and your postal address. Your
completed ID will be posted to this address.

By regular post: You can attach a photo to the form

SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Assistants are on all campuses and locations can be found on the International Student website

BORROWING EQUIPMENT
Borrowers should be aware that different equipment has different loan periods and should check at the time of borrowing when the return date is   Equipment for LOAN

Borrowing of digital video and stills cameras requires approval from your lecturer.

BOOKING A TEACHING SPACE / CLASSROOM
Students wanting to book a teaching space/classroom.
A) Collect a yellow form from Facilities & Services,
B) Have your lecturer / tutor sign it,
C) Return the form to Facilities & Services to book the room.

BOOKING EQUIPMENT
Equipment can be booked online

TECHNOLOGY TUITION
Students can book (groups or one-on-one) for tuition in:
     Connecting laptops to multimedia projectors
     Recording with digital video and stills cameras
     Downloading images from camera to computer Book Tuition
     You can also download instructions for audio-visual equipment
     and equipment installed in teaching rooms

PORTABLE MULTIMEDIA PROJECTORS
Only current Edith Cowan University staff (general and academic) can book and borrow multimedia projectors. If students require a multimedia projector they need to contact their lecturer/tutor who will make the booking in their name.
Multimedia projectors that are booked by staff need to be collected from MMR and returned after the class or lecture. Multimedia projectors are for use on campus for the duration of a lecture only.

LAPTOP COMPUTERS
The same loan policy applies as for multimedia projectors (see above).

VHS and digital video cameras are available as well as digital stills cameras.

CASSETTE RECORDERS
MMR cassette recorders take standard size cassettes, not mini or micro cassettes (7 day loan period subject to demand).
