Geographical Information System (GIS)

• Are you a new lecturer or student who needs to locate a room?
• Are you a student who needs to locate a particular staff member?
• Do you want to familiarize yourself with the campus before you arrive?
• Do you need to book a room that contains special equipment, such as a laptop and projection connection?

Then the new Geographical Information System (GIS) is for you.

The GIS is an interactive, mixed medium web site that you can use to search for rooms on the Edith Cowan University campuses.

The GIS, however, is more than just a room listing, it is an easily accessible, searchable wealth of information that enables you to find just what you're looking for. By specifying search criteria, you can find the room that has just the right resources to support your teaching needs.

Search criteria include information such as:

1. The type and number of televisions, VCRs, and DVD players
2. The number of desks and chairs and their arrangement within in the room
3. The availability of air conditioning
4. The type of floor, such as level, slanted, wood or tile

Once you've located a room that fits your search criteria, you can view photos of the room and obtain a map that highlights the room's location. You can then book the room online, to ensure that you get the support you need.
