Level 1: Consultation and production services.
ID consults and reviews documents against ECU Quality Checklist; serves as "critical friend". DTP and MM services as required. Focus is on conversion of existing resources. Minimal academic staff time involved.

Predominantly Mode A. Web used primarily for content delivery. No assessable tasks done online.

Level 2: Course redesign and development for Web implementation.
Significant involvement of ID, as well as provision of DTP and MM services as required. Significant academic involvement in determining design and in developing learning activities/resources.

Predominantly Mode B, but can be Mode C. Changes from typical external print emphasis on reading to problem-based learning and authentic assessment. May be used offshore with face to face intensives as well.

Level 3: New course design and development for Web implementation.
Significant RDS staff and academic staff involvement in all stages.
