MyECU (Blackboard)
MyECU is ECU's primary online learning environment. This is a customised version of the Blackboard Academic Suite, supporting learning, teaching, research and social activities across the University.
The articles below are listed in chronological order and contain resources and information for using MyECU for learning and teaching at ECU.
They are are organised by category in the list on the left and you can also use the search facility to find specific resources.
Timed Tests/Quizzes and IE7
If you are off campus when taking a timed test in MyECU and you are using Internet Explorer 7, you should set your security options as follows:
Firefox 3 and Blackboard File Upload Problem
With Firefox 3 for Windows Vista/XP, you may get an error "Please enter a valid file" when trying to submit an assignment or upload a file to other areas of a MyECU site.
If you need to upload files to MyECU (Blackboard) we recommend that you use Firefox 2, Internet Explorer 6 or 7, or Safari 2. These are the only web browsers currently certified and supported by Blackboard.
If you need to reinstall Firefox 2, follow the instructions at:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
If you want to keep Firefox 3 then have a look at a workaround for the Firefox 3 problem and Blackboard upload "Not a Valid File" error message
Using Announcements in MyECU
Use announcements to post important messages and information such as deadlines, changes, corrections, clarifications, and schedules. Here is a quick guide on how to add and modify annoucements in your MyECU site.
Problem with Random Test Questions
We have discovered an issue with tests in MyECU sites that have settings for randomised questions.
If these random question options are used Students can be locked out of a test and will be unable to get back in.
We therefore recommend that lecturers and tutors do not use these options until further notice. Blackboard support have been notified and we are waiting for a fix for this problem.
Apologies for any incovenience.
