Software and Settings for using LAMS

LAMS is available to use in Blackboard and your lecturer may have set up sequences for you to work through in your unit.

If you find that you have problems using LAMS via Blackboard please check the following:

That you are using one of the supported browsers:
Operating System Supported Browsers
Windows XP & 2000 IE 6, IE 7, Firefox 1.5+, Safari 3
Mac OS X Safari 3, Firefox 1.5+
That you have the Flash Plug-in from Adobe
That you have Javascript set to be allowed in your browser:

In Internet Explorer 6 

  1. Select 'Tools' from the top menu
  2. Choose 'Internet Options'
  3. Click on the 'Security' tab
  4. Click on 'Custom Level'
  5. Scroll down until you see section labled 'Scripting'
  6. Under 'Active Scripting', select 'Enable' and click OK

In Mozilla Firefox

  1. Select 'Tools' from the top menu (on a mac it's Firefox then Preferences)
  2. Choose 'Options'
  3. Choose 'Content' from the top navigation
  4. Select the checkbox next to 'Enable JavaScript' and click OK

in Apple Safari

  1. Select 'Safari' from the top menu
  2. Choose 'Preferences'
  3. Choose 'Security'
  4. Select the checkbox next to 'Enable JavaScript'
and last but not least, that you have allowed pop ups from MyECU/Blackboard:

Internet Explorer 6.0 on operating system Windows XP Service Pack 2

  1. From Tools point to Pop-up Blocker, and then click on Pop-up Blocker Settings
  2. Type http://myecu.ecu.edu.au in the box 'Address of Web site to allow' and click Add
  3. Set the Filter Level to Medium: Block most automatic pop-ups
  4. Click Close

Firefox

  1. From Tools select Options (on a mac it's Firefox then Preferences)
  2. Select the Content icon
  3. Click Exceptions next to Block popup windows
  4. Type http://myecu.ecu.edu.au.au into the Address of Web Site field
  5. Click Allow
  6. Click OK

Safari

From the Safari menu, ensure 'Block pop-up windows' is not ticked.
