Web Collaboration

Starting in semester 2, The Centre for learning and teaching will be conducting a 12 month trial of web collaborative technologies in order to evaluate their educational effectiveness and to make recommendations about future purchasing.

The technologies under trial include live web tutorial tools (Elluminate Live and Wimba Classroom), voice tools, an instant messenging tool and a course creation program. All the tools will be available within Blackboard for those taking part in the trial.

If you are interested in being involved in the trial, or want more information, please contact Chris Leigh on ext 6344 or Mike Nodding on ext 6206.

Starting Elluminate Live! via MyECU

Elluminate Live! is an online collaboration tool which enables groups to communicate using text and voice and to share presentations, websites, documents, their desktops and applications.

If you are using it on campus, in a lab or via the ECU wireless network, then a few settings are required to set up the ECU Proxy, through which you need to authenticate to access the internet.

Read more about connecting through the ECU Proxy server

Also if you are launching an Elluminate session via Internet Explorer you will need to open the session in a new window by right-clicking the "join" button and selecting "Open in new window". You could also try using Firefox as an alternative.
