Professor Ron Oliver

BSc WAust, BEd Murdoch, MAppSc WAIT, PhD Curtin, FAACE

Professor Ron Oliver is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Teaching, Learning and International) and Vice-President at Edith Cowan University. His key accountabilities relate to leadership and development of learning and teaching practices and policy to ensure high standards and performance in course delivery and course outcomes across the University's programs.

He has responsibility for the Centre for Learning and Teaching, the Library Services Centre, Edith Cowan University International and the Office of Academic Governance. He has a background in teaching, having trained and taught as a secondary school teacher before moving into tertiary education. His tertiary teaching experience includes undergraduate and postgraduate positions in education and communications. He has led research projects exploring the design, development and evaluation of technology-mediated and online learning environments and has published widely in this field.

Professor Oliver has won a number of national and international awards for his university teaching and research. He is a winner of an Australian Award for University Teaching and has Fellowships from the Australian Learning and Teaching Council and the Association for the Advancement of Computers in Education. He has been a leading player for many years in the development and promotion of e-learning and is internationally recognised for his contributions and achievements in this field.

He holds the degrees of Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the University of Western Australia, Bachelor of Education from Murdoch University, and Master of Applied Science and Doctor of Philosophy from Curtin University.
