Last day at ECU for Professor Robert Harvey as Executive Dean and Pro-Vice-Chancellor

Friday, 16 October 2009

Further to the announcement made in June this year, of Professor Robert Harvey’s intention to step down from his leadership positions at ECU, it is now settled that Robert’s last day with us will be Friday, 13 November 2009.

The process to appoint Robert’s successor in the Faculty of Business and Law is well underway, and until a final decision is made, Professor Mark Stoney has kindly agreed to be Acting Executive Dean.  Robert’s other responsibility as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Engagement) will be undertaken by Professor Brenda Cherednichenko for the time being.

These arrangements will take effect from Saturday, 14 November 2009.

I appreciate the many and various contributions Robert has made to the Faculty and to the University more generally.  He is an exemplar of the life of the mind and understands well the importance to universities of a culture that promotes contestability of ideas.

We wish Robert well.
