Congratulations to WAAPA

Thursday, 16 June 2011

Congratulations to the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) on a very successful and enjoyable opening night of the mid-year musical Crazy for You.

The performance showcased the talent, energy and commitment of the students involved, from the performers to the costume designers and set producers.

It was also pleasing to see that the official guests in attendance at the Regal Theatre included Federal Minister for Tertiary Education Skills, Jobs and Workplace Relations Senator The Hon. Chris Evans; State Minister for Education The Hon. Dr Liz Constable; State Minister for Culture and the Arts The Hon. John Day; and State Minister for Training and Workforce Development The Hon. Peter Collier.

US Consul General Aleisha Woodward was also in attendance, along with former US Consul General Professor Kenneth Chern and his wife, Ronni.

The performance reflected very well on both WAAPA and the wider University community. Congratulations to Professor Julie Warn AM and all WAAPA staff and students on their fine contribution to the event.
