Many of you will be aware that our colleague Karen D’costa will commence twelve months maternity leave soon. Karen has been supporting me in her role as my Executive Officer since March 2008 and has undertaken this role in an exceptionally professional manner. Her calm and caring approach to others and her extraordinary organisational abilities will no doubt be an asset for motherhood.

Following internal recruitment, I am pleased to confirm that Jane Burnell has agreed to take on the challenges associated with the Executive Officer’s role. Jane’s current position is with our legal team as Administration Officer. She has impeccable references and I look forward to working with her, commencing 7 February.

On behalf of the entire University community, I wish Karen every happiness, good health and joy as she enters this new and exciting phase of her life.

Professor Kerry O. Cox
Vice-Chancellor
