Changes to the VCPMG leadership roles for Engagement, Equity and Indigenous

Friday, 02 March 2012

It is my pleasure to report that the University Council on 1 March, 2012 endorsed my recommendation that the position of Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Engagement, Equity and Indigenous) be abolished and replaced with a half-time position of Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Equity and Indigenous).

The Engagement responsibilities previously allocated to the original PVC (EE&I) role will be taken up progressively during 2012 by the Executive Deans of the Faculties. The Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Advancement) will continue also to play a major Engagement role with the health communities.

It is my pleasure to announce here that Professor Colleen Hayward has accepted appointment as half-time Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Equity and Indigenous) and also as half-time Head of Kurongkurl Katitjin, the Centre for Indigenous Australian Education and Research, with effect from today.

In her new Pro-Vice-Chancellor role, Colleen will report to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). In her role as Head of Centre, Colleen will continue to report to the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Education and Arts.

I congratulate Colleen on her many successes to date in her leadership roles at ECU and I look forward to many more from her in the years ahead.

Professor Kerry O. Cox
Vice-Chancellor
