New Chair for Academic Board

Thursday, 03 May 2012

Tags:

On 1 June this year, our industrious colleague, Professor Ron Oliver, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) will have completed three terms (each of three years’ duration) as Chair of ECU’s Academic Board.  Ron will of course continue to be a key participant on Academic Board in his senior role as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning).

In addition to his efforts on behalf of ECU leading the Academic Board over these nine years, Ron has also played an active and important role nationally with his involvement in the Chairs of Academic Boards and Senates and Secretaries (CABSS) network and conferences.

Ron has demonstrated strong leadership in raising issues and leading discussions, testing and assisting in identifying or developing sector responses to legislative and compliance requirements affecting universities. He has also been a shining example for all of us on matters of quality and fair-dealing.

On behalf of the ECU community, I hereby record our appreciation of Ron’s stellar leadership of our Academic Board.

In accordance with ECU’s Academic Board Rules, nominations were sought for a successor to the role of Chair. I am pleased to advise that at the last meeting of Academic Board, Professor Mark Stoney was elected Chair and will commence on 1 June 2012. Congratulations Mark.

Professor Kerry O. Cox
Vice-Chancellor
