Melanie Wright

Melanie is originally from a cold industrial town in the north of England. She did her nurse training in 1985 then worked for a few years as a RN before completing post graduate courses in emergency nursing and teaching, and winning an innovation award from the Queens Nursing Institute. Melanie came to Australia on holiday and fell in love with the people, scenery and lifestyle. Initially she worked as a Clinical Nurse in an Emergency Department but soon found she wanted to return to management. ECU was the obvious choice as they offered a Health Services Management course, trained nurses and had strong links with the healthcare community in Perth.

Melanie started off with the Executive Certificate in Health Services Management, and had two fantastic tutors who really inspired her. She then fell pregnant and her life took her on a different course though she continued to work part-time and study and completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Health Services. Melanie continued to study and work and recently graduated with a Master of Health Service Management, which was one of her proudest moments and a great sense of personal achievement. She is the only person in her immediate family who has been to university and has an academic qualification – her parents are very proud of her too.

Melanie told us “The staff at ECU are amazing. The tutors are excellent, responsive and knowledgeable and the library and admin staff are very professional and demonstrate outstanding customer service. Well done ECU and thank you for my journey! You may see me again when I have had a study break and want to pursue a doctorate”.
