Professor Di Twigg, Dean of ECU’s School of Nursing and Midwifery along with her team of three other staff from the school are taking part in this year’s Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim with all proceeds raised going towards the Doreen Collyer Nursing Scholarship Fund.
Tragically attacked and killed by a shark diving off Mindarie in June last year, Doreen Collyer was a much loved and respected colleague, mentor and teacher at ECU in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Her work as Director of Post Graduate Studies and Lecturer was well respected and valued by students and staff alike. The Scholarship Fund has been established to honour her memory.
A scholarship of $3,000 is awarded each year to a nursing student to help with the cost of their education, especially costs associated with taking time away from family and work to undertake clinical practicums, and will have a tremendous impact on student learning experiences whilst honouring Doreen’s tremendous contribution to ECU.
For each $3,000 raised the scholarship can be extended for another year. The team hopes to raise at least $6,000 so please show our support and donate to the teams EveryDay Hero page. The more people that know about ECU Doreen Collyer Scholarship Fund, the greater the impact, so please also spread the word by sharing the page.
