The Parkinson's Centre - ParkC

ParkCThe Parkinson's Centre (ParkC) is a new research centre based in Western Australia at Edith Cowan University's Joondalup Campus. ParkC is founded on collaborative partnerships between the Cambridge Parkinson's Disease Research Clinic, University of Western Australia, Curtin University of Technology, and the Parkinson's Association of Western Australia.

ParkC aims to improve the diagnosis, care, wellbeing, and quality of life for people with Parkinson's and their families through research.

Our Vision

"...to significantly improve the life of people with Parkinson's through research and education in the search for a cure."

Our Aims

ParkC Early Onset Research Scholarship (PORSCHE SCHOLARSHIP)

'YOGs' stems from the Young Onset Group in Perth, Western Australia, people who were diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease before 55 years of age. ParkC has a close relationship with the Young Onset Group (YOGs). This dynamic, positive group first met in February 2006 with 10 interested people, and has grown to approximately 40 members.

The ParkC Early Onset Research Scholarship has been established at Edith Cowan University out of the interest of the Young Onset Group (YOGs) to support local research.

Money donated to the ParkC Early Onset Research Scholarship throughout the year would enable a student/s to obtain an (annual) scholarship to conduct research into Parkinson's Disease for an initial term of 12 months.

A panel will select the scholarship recipient. The panel should consist of: 1 Young Onset Person (YOGs), 1 academic from Edith Cowan University and 1 other person who could determine the criteria.

The scholarship recipient will be in touch with the YOGs Support Group at least twice during their year. Initially the recipient will supply information as to what they are working on and later give a presentation as to their progress towards the end of their year.
