Vario Health Institute

The Vario Health Institute (VHI) is a catalyst for positive health change improving the quality of life for all ages. The VHI is a strategic cluster of 17 research centres within Edith Cowan University . More than 60 Vario researchers work on ground breaking initiatives with children, adults and the elderly - in partnership with schools, private industry, national and international research bodies, governments and hospitals.

The VHI is already having a significant impact on the lives of children, adults and the elderly through a range of community building programs aimed at:

  • Reducing school bullying and aggression
  • Improving road safety education amongst pre-schoolers
  • Aiding the terminally and chronically ill through the Cancer Survivor Program
  • Improving the health and physical activity levels of children with obesity
  • Keeping older adults healthy through the Living Longer, Living Stronger program

As well as the many lives that can be saved, and the millions whose health can be improved as a result of Vario's work, the potential cost savings to taxpayers are immense. If children and adults are supported to create a healthy lifestyle and adopt healthier habits and attitudes, they won't end up at the doctors, pharmacists, on operating tables and in hospital beds at taxpayers' expense.

The potential social impact of Vario's work is huge, but in order to realise its potential we need to substantially increase the number and scope of our projects, and qualified research staff. Your assistance is needed to realise Vario's vision.
