Scholarship & Prizes
As the second largest university in Western Australia, ECU has over 23,000 individuals studying over 300 courses. Through scholarships and prizes we can offer more students the opportunity to followed their desired course of study.Scholarships provide the extra financial support that some students may need to achieve their degree. Scholarships can be based on equity or academic excellence.
Prizes award academic excellence in a particular field.
There are various reasons why individuals and businesses establish scholarships/prizes:
- To support a particular group of students that may face a disadvantage whilst studying
- In memory of a loved one, who contributed to a particular area of study
- To support a cause or encourage a greater focus on a particular area of study.
As a donor of a scholarship or prize you will be informed of the student's progress throughout their course and will have naming rights for the scholarship/prize. By establishing a scholarship you are providing the opportunity for tomorrow's leaders to excel whilst building your own connection to ECU.
Scholarship Testimonials
Erica Muller, 3rd year tourist student, recipient of the 'Mrs Mac’s Rural Scholarship'
“The scholarship I received allowed me to purchase all my textbooks required which resulted in me receiving higher marks and understanding the units with much more ease. In turn this allows me to graduate at the end of the year with good marks to show when seeking my preferred job.”

Research - inspired by Engagement and Partnerships
Edith Cowan University's goal is to build its research enterprise and generate enhanced research outcomes in selected areas of excellence, particularly those with the potential for high social, economic, environmental and cultural impact.By donating to our research individuals and businesses will perhaps be contributing to the next biggest breakthrough in Alzheimer's Disease or developing methodologies to support pupils in pre-school developing with literacy and numeracy difficulties.
Extra support from individuals and businesses will allow ECU to deepen it's capabilities. More research leads could be appointed, support staff employed and newer and more modern equipment bought which will led to quicker results and an increase in capacity.
A donation could contribute to specific research project , help initiate research in an area of importance to you or be unspecified and it would go towards a research priority area for the university.
