The Sustainable Community Steering Committee (SCSC) is responsible for embedding sustainability in our teaching, learning and research and within our community.
We use an Environmental Management System (EMS) to track progress of the environmental impacts of our operations. The EMS is certified to international standards using AS/NZS ISO 14001.
The EMS is divided into five environmental programs:
- Transport; and
ECU uses a live environmental data monitoring system to assist in obtaining accurate and up-to-date information on our energy and water consumption and waste produced.

ECU uses a web-based tool to monitor our waste, energy and water consumption.
This environmental data monitoring system is provides a snapshot almost in ‘real-time’ to enable us to better use our consumption patterns.
