Textbook orders

The ECU Shops textbook and associated product ordering process begins in October and April each year. It is important that orders are submitted as early as possible to ensure stock is in the Shops for the commencement of semester.  Remember the more notice you give us, the more time we can spend negotiating better pricing and terms with suppliers, ultimately benefiting your students and your department.

Below are some helpful hints:

  • An order is required for each semester;
  • ECU Shops return unsold stock to the suppliers at the end of each semester in accordance with suppliers’ terms of trade;
  • The ECU Shops need to be notified of any late amendment to an order as soon as possible (faculties are responsible for any charges incurred) ;
  • Many Australian suppliers do not hold large quantities of stock so books need to be shipped from overseas.  The later a textbook order is submitted the higher the likelihood that the University will be charged airfreight costs. Airfreight costs are usually in the vicinity of AUD$8-10 per book and delivery takes an average of 4-5 weeks. If the title/s in question requires this method of delivery due to late notice, this cost will either be passed on through the price of the book or invoiced to the department in question.

If you have any queries relating to textbook orders please contact the Senior Textbook Buyer, at our Joondalup site (ext 2233).

Book/Product launches

The ECU Shop staff are more than happy to assist or host product/book launches at conferences, breakfasts, "wine and cheese" evenings or any similar events.  The ECU Shop supervisor on each campus should be contacted to organise these events (please see "contacts").
