Information for students

Our team at The ECU Shop enjoy helping students through their journey at ECU. If you have any queries, we are more than happy to help and wish you well with your studies and your time at ECU.

Accessing your booklist

Many lecturers require you buy course readers for study. A reader contains copyright material and for this reason they are sold on a non-returnable basis, so please choose carefully.

Booklists relevant to your enrolment can be accessed through Student Information Management Online (SIMO). Access to SIMO is via the student portal.

Buying from The ECU Shop

The ECU Shops have been designed so that course and unit texts are separated from recreational books and other products. Should you need assistance please ask our friendly staff.

Please bring your booklists with you to ensure the right books are purchased. Payment can be made by EFPOS, MasterCard, VISA, cheque or cash.

From The ECU Shop Online

The ECU Shop Online provides a fast and simple way for students within Australia and overseas to make their purchases. Overseas students are encouraged to place orders early to allow sufficient time for delivery. The ECU Shop Online accepts MasterCard and VISA. If you wish to pay by cheque or money order please print and complete an Online Shop Order form.

Items purchased through the online shop are posted free of charge within Australia. To ensure you are charged the minimum postage for your order, we will individually weigh your order and look for the most appropriate method of transit to your specific address.  We will email you with the additional cost before we finalise your order. Please note, courier charges do not cover customs duty, VAT fees and other importation fees levied by the destination country.

Special orders

If you are looking for a specific book that we do not carry, please contact one of our campus shops to place a special order. Special orders can take anywhere between 2-6 weeks to arrive depending on the source and availability. ECU Shop staff will be in contact with you if a delay of more than 2 weeks is expected. Full payment in advance, plus a freight charge, is required for special orders.

Secondhand books

Secondhand books are available through The ECU Shops. These are purchased from ECU students once individual titles are confirmed for the following semester.  As we pride ourselves on the quality of our secondhand books, we are unable to accept any book deemed to be below a "resaleable" condition.

Conditions for students selling secondhand books

  • Secondhand books may not be reserved.
  • Secondhand books are sold as is, the buyer must take the opportunity to inspect the book prior to purchase as secondhand books are not returnable.

Please note ECU internal publications are non-returnable in compliance with copyright legislation requirements.
