Achieving good practice in research training

The Good Practice Framework for Research Training provides institutions with a framework and template to help achieve quality research training.

Institutions are encouraged to use the Good Practice Framework to perform a review of quality assurance in their research training. This can be achieved by using a gap analysis template to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement. The gap analysis template provides a means of reviewing and evaluating an institution’s practices and processes in relation to the Framework, identify where change is required, if at all, and allow the institution to identify actions to be taken to improve quality in research training.

ECU has developed a gap analysis template. The template can be downloaded, customised and used by institutions to review their higher degree by research practices, policies and procedures against the Framework. This information can further be used to benchmark research training processes and practices between universities to demonstrate areas of good practice and identify areas for improvement in the quality of research training within Australia.
