Support for international students

We understand that students new to Australia will face additional challenges when it comes to research and study. The Graduate Research School provides free ‘English as an Additional Language’ workshops to support students from a Non-English speaking background.

Our SOAR Centres are particularly beneficial to international students as many of our Ambassadors have also experienced arriving in a new country to study. The Centres provide a comfortable environment to discuss studying and living in Australia, as well as specific research training needs.

Academic support for higher degree students

In addition to the services provided by the Graduate Research School, there are many programs and services offered by schools or research centres. In addition, each school has dedicated research and writing consultants who can work one-on-one with you to provide specialist advice tailored to your discipline and research topic.

Administrative support for higher degree students

Our Student Services Centre provides administrative support for research and higher degree students, including admissions, research scholarships, enrolment and progress reporting and management of milestones, including research proposal, ethics, confirmation of candidature and thesis examination.

ECU schools also have dedicated staff that can provide advice on the administrative requirements and support services for higher degree by research students.
