Assistance with quitting

ECU can assist you to make the important decision to quit and will support you with the Employee Assistance Program if you are a staff member, student counselling and a supportive on-campus health services to help you Quit or stay Quit.

Staff

ECU staff can access the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which is a work-based intervention program designed to enhance the emotional, mental and general psychological wellbeing of all employees and includes services for immediate family members.

Students

Student Counselling is a professional and confidential service, which is available to all students free of charge.

Counsellors can provide emotional support and where possible, assist students in understanding their problems and assisting to find solutions that work.

ECU counsellors come from a wide range of professions, have postgraduate qualifications and have skills and experience in helping people with a wide range of personal, psychological and study-related difficulties. All ECU counsellors are required to abide by a professional Code of Ethics, and to uphold principles that outline professional conduct, responsibilities and confidentiality.

Campus Health Services

The ECU Student Health Services seeks to assist the university community, students and staff with their health care needs. The primary function of the service is to provide staff and students with physical and psychosocial health support, so that everyone can achieve their academic potential while maintaining optimal wellness.

Smoker applicable support services include: General Practitioner consultations, Smoker Care plans with Nicotine Replacement Treatment and Counselling on lifestyles and drugs. Further information about the ECU Student Health Service is available via Student Portal website. 

Alternative self-help support

Curtin Wellness provide stress reduction podcasts and self-help information. They are intended for information only, and should not be seen as a substitute for professional advice.
