Research Abroad Activities

Students may wish to travel overseas as part of their research journey.  Please view the Research Travel page for opportunities.

There is also a range of Government funding sources that ECU research students may be eligible for, to assist in learning abroad (student mobility).

Government Scholarship & Fellowship Program

The Endeavour Scholarship & Fellowships programme supports a range of opportunities for study, research and professional development, ranging from 1-4 month Executive fellowships; 4-6 months research fellowships, and up to two year long-term postgraduate research or study.

Key Steps for applying

  • Review applicant guidelines and FAQs
  • Visit the Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships website
  • Apply and submit by 30 June 2017 (Note: please provide your application earlier if possible & make sure all supporting documents are included and referees have time to respond)
  • Successful applicants announced December 2017

Endeavour Research Fellow

Short-term research towards an Australian Masters; PhD or to undertake postdoctoral research. These fellowships are for 4-6 months and valued at up to $24,000.

Endeavour Research Fellowship for Indigenous Australians

Indigenous Australians

Support for Indigenous postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows to undertake short-term (4-6 months) towards an Australian Masters, PhD or postdoctoral research in any field, overseas.

The Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarships

International Applicants

Australian Applicants

Supports students and researchers to undertake long-term study or research towards their Australian qualification at a Masters or PhD level, either by coursework or research, in any field. Recipients are also given the opportunity to undertake an internship. These scholarships are valued up to $69,500

Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Research Fellowship

International Applicants

Australian Applicants

Support for postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows from participating Asian countries to undertake short term research (4-6 months) in any field, in Australian and for Australians to do the same in participating Asian Countries.

Endeavour Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship

Australian Female Student

Offered to a high achieving female and provides up to $130,500 for long-term research towards an Australian PhD or postdoctoral research, in any field.

Endeavour Executive Fellowship

International Applicants

Australian Applicants

(Professional Development Opportunities)

Supports programmes of 1-4 months for recipients to undertake professional development. These fellowships are valued up to $18,000 and are open to applicants from the private sector as well as universities and research institutions.

Support in completing applications is available through the Graduate Research School email: GRSstudentsupport@ecu.edu.au and the Office of Research and Innovation email: research-preaward@ecu.edu.au.  Applicants for research scholarships or fellowships are encouraged to submit through the Office of Research and Innovation to help increase the likelihood of success.
