Study Tours and International Placements

There are a range of short-term learning abroad programs available to ECU students. These include:

  • Study Tours
  • International competitions
  • Performances
  • Clinical Placements
  • Practicums
  • Research programs

In the following information provided, these short term learning abroad programs will all be referred to as ‘study tours’ for ease.

Study Tour Process

The International Office supports the Schools and provides advice on short term learning abroad programs.

There are a number of steps required in the development and running of a study tour. The International Office provides a summary of the main steps and responsibilities and a booklet/guide to assist tour leaders in their preparation.

Funding

Applications for government funding need to be submitted in the year before the study tour takes place. Funding rounds for the New Colombo Plan and Endeavour mobility programs open around March/April for a month.

If an application for funding is successful, government grants will be made available to selected students to assist them with the costs of the study tour. If students do not obtain a grant, they may apply for OS HELP loans, if eligible. Students who receive government funding may also apply for these loans to assist them with additional costs not covered by the grant.
