Inaugural ICC Student Awards now open

ECU’s Indigenous Consultative Committee (ICC) is encouraging current Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to apply for the inaugural ICC Student Awards.

The awards have been developed in recognition of leadership, academic and role-model qualities within the ECU Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student cohort and aims to identify and celebrate those outstanding individuals within our University community.

There are two award categories: Leadership and Inspiration. Each prize is valued at $1,000 and will be presented to worthy recipients at the annual Rock Solid Foundations Alumni Sundowner event on Friday, 27 November 2015.

Applications will close on the Wednesday, 18 November 2015.

Leadership Award

Recognising the efforts of a current ECU Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student, who takes responsibility for contributing in a positive way to their own and other people’s lives within the University Community and beyond.

Eligibility conditions: To be eligible for the Leadership Award, applicants must: 

  • Be of Australian Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander descent;
  • Be currently enrolled as an ECU student in a degree course;
  • Have at least six months remaining before course completion;
  • Study full-time on-campus; and
  • Attain satisfactory academic progress.

Inspiration Award

Recognising a current ECU Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander student, who embraces the experience of University and is an inspirational role model to their peers.

Eligibility conditions: To be eligible for the Inspiration Award, applicants must:

  • Be of Australian Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • Be currently enrolled as an ECU student in a degree course; and
  • Have at least six months remaining before course completion.
