Aboriginal University Readiness Assessment

IMPORTANT: The Aboriginal Student Intake Test (ASIT)  has been replaced with the Aboriginal University Readiness Assessment (AURA).

The Aboriginal University Readiness Assessment (AURA), formerly known as the Aboriginal Student Intake Test (ASIT), is an improved and dedicated pathway for prospective Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at Edith Cowan University (ECU). It includes a new self-assessment of skills, knowledge and lifestyle to enable informed decision-making about entering and thriving at university.

Administered by Kurongkurl Katitjin, AURA aims to provide a holistic and personal approach to commencing the university journey. By establishing important support networks early, the transition for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people into an enabling or undergraduate course at ECU, ensures that you are well supported and well connected right from the start.

This pathway enables:

  • greater accessibility through online access and availability;
  • dedicated assistance from enquiry through to enrolment; and
  • early engagement with Kurongkurl Katitjin's Student Success Team.

Based on information provided, we can determine the best pathway into ECU and highlight the support you may need to make the most of your learning experience at ECU.

ECU’s Future Student Engagement Coordinator (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students), will discuss your entry options and course application process, including any further assessment of core skills if you don't meet minimum entry requirements.

Kurongkurl Katitjin's Student Success Team will also reach out with tailored support and information once you have made the decision to join us here at ECU.

Who is eligible?

To enter this pathway, you must identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

If you have a Diploma (or higher qualification) you don't need to undertake the AURA. You may be eligible to apply directly to an enabling course or undergraduate degree.

If you're not sure, please contact us via email.
