Borrow from the library

University ID card

Your student or staff university ID card (ECU ID) is also your library card and is used to borrow items from any ECU campus library.

Obtain your ECU ID by showing proof of enrolment or employment at any campus Multimedia Resources (MMR) desk. You can then activate your ID card at any ECU library enquiry counter within enquiry service hours.  For more detailed information, MMR locations and support hours see the Student ID cards web page.

Electronic Resources

ECU is an e-preferred library, you do not need to attend the library building to access e-resources, simply use our Library One Search or the Catalogue to locate the e-resource you require. See the eBooks LibGuide for detailed information, FAQs and assistance.

Physical Resources

To borrow an item, take your selection and ECU ID to any Self Check machine located inside each of the ECU campus libraries.

  • Return your items to any of the campus libraries (except High Use items).  After hours return chutes are located near the library entrances.
  • Renew your items by logging onto My Library Record.
  • Borrowed items may be recalled if required by someone else.  You will be notified by email and have 7 days to return the item. All items are subject to recall.
  • You can request an item held at another ECU campus library and it can be transferred to your home campus library for collection.
  • Penalties will apply if the item is overdue, damaged, lost or not returned.
  • Staff and students located outside of Australia cannot borrow physical items but can use e-resources.
