How does document delivery work?

Using ILL through ECU Worldsearch

Step 1.

Search ECU Worldsearch on the topic you are researching. For example, nanotechnology medical applicat*

If you come across a book that you require that is not held by ECU, there will be a 'Request item through interlibrary loan button' button. See image below:

Step 2.

This will take you to the ECU ILL system (VDX) and the information will be pre-populated into the requesting form. Of you only need a particular part of the book (for example, a chapter), or an article from a journal, please fill in the details as appropriate. See image below:

Step 3.

The library receives your ILL request and processes it. If you have requested a book, you will receive an email advising it is ready for you to collect from your branch library. If you have requested a copy of an article, it may have been supplied electronically and attached to your request (login to your VDX account to retrieve it), or by print (collect it from your branch library).

Using ILL directly through the VDX system

In this scenario you have found the citation of an article that you would like to read from a journal that ECU hasn’t a subscription to. For example this article:
Mohamed, E.,  Nik, A. B., Hamrang, M., Karimi, M., Hamblin, M. R., Bakhtiari, L., . . .  Zangabad, P. S. (2016). Nanotechnology in diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease. Nanomedicine, 11(5), 513-530. doi:10.2217/nnm.16.3

Step 1.

Have the reference citation information available. Go to the VDX system from the library homepage. See image below.

From this page click on the VDX link.

Log in to the system using your ECU login details.

Step 2.

Once in the form, follow the prompts. Be sure in the Title field to search for the journal title or the book title, not the article or chapter title. See image below.

This search process can take a little while.

Step 3.

If the search doesn’t produce any results choose the blank form hyperlink. See link below on image.

Step 4.

Complete the blank form with the details from the citation. Remember to choose the correct format, in this case it is an article printed.

Step 5.

Once the form has been completed click on request.
