ECU Referencing Guide to be archived

In-line with the changes being made to our referencing resources on the Library Guides, the ECU Referencing Guide (2014) will be archived on 18 December 2017 in order to give more current and authoritative resources more prominence.

In July 2017, the ECU Library Services Centre completed updates and expansion of the available APA 6th Edition Style referencing material, in line with new resources and learning technologies available in this area. These updates were made with the goal of improving student learning and experience in regards to referencing.

The new APA Style Central database provides a 24/7 online learning environment for students and staff to learn APA 6th Edition Style referencing and is the authoritative source for this referencing style. APA Style Central includes a searchable bank of sample references, a variety of video tutorials and interactive quizzes, as well as information on research and publishing. Also included is electronic access to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th Ed, 2010) and the APA Style Guide to Electronic References (2012).

To take full advantage of the learning resources provided by APA Style Central, the Referencing Library Guide has been redesigned to showcase relevant materials. As APA Style Central is the authoritative resource for APA 6th Edition Style referencing, a new printable ‘Quick’ APA Referencing Guide has been developed for students who would like to have a printable guide, and this has been trialled successfully since January 2017.

In July 2017 the ECU Library Services Centre announced the plan to archive the ECU Referencing Guide 2014 (.pdf). This notice is to remind all ECU staff and students that as per the ECU Library Services Centre’s previous communications, the ECU Referencing Guide will be archived on 18 December 2017.

We apologise if you have already taken action to update your materials, and we appreciate your support during this transition.
