Submit to eReserve
Academic staff can request that items are held in the e-Reserve Collection for student use. Also part of the Reserve Collection, e-Reserve is an online repository of high-use material available 24 hours a day through the library catalogue.
Acceptable items for e-Reserve
Our e-Reserve Collection only includes:
- published text-based material, such as journal articles, chapters or sections of books, conference papers, that contain third party copyright;
- items scanned from print format; and
- links to items that are contained within the library’s online resources.
Items such as lecture notes, class notes and materials that are freely available on the Internet are generally not included.
Guidelines
To submit a request for an item to be added to the e-Reserve Collection, please follow the guidelines on the Submit items for Reserve web page. These guidelines are in addition, specifically for the e-Reserve Collection:
- One Reserve collection request form per unit of study with full citation details for all items to enable the library to adhere to the requirements of the Copyright Act (1968) and the Digital Amendment (2001).
- Copies of items (hardcopy, PDF on disk or attached to email) must have the Electronic use notice at the start of the article/chapter or indicate the source if the article is available online (for example, ProQuest, Blackwell).
- Full citation details must appear on the copies of items (either print or scanned) to allow students to cite material within their academic writing.
- e-Reserve items will be available only for the current academic year. To reuse material for the following year, you must request a rollover of items before ECU’s end of year close down.
- Please keep a copy of your e-Reserve requests and items for future reference.
Format
Submit your items for the e-Reserve Collection in the following format:
- Scanned items should be in Adobe Acrobat format (PDF) with recommended resolution of 250-300 dpi and file size no larger than 5MB (larger files may be broken into smaller files).
- Print photocopies should be good quality, A4 size, and single sided, same orientation for all pages (either portrait or landscape) and have clearly displayed page numbers.
- Preferred format for file name would be author’s surname followed by the first 2 words of title. For example: Smith_Management practices.
