About the Presenter

Ryan Beckmand is a non-profit director, innovation consultant, and active start-up mentor. Ryan has maintained his passion for building and designing technology from a young age, and naturally followed this passion to launch his first start-up, ‘Sciosity’, almost two years ago, after experiencing the unbelievable immersion of an Oculus Rift for the first time. This small start-up has grown to build virtual reality simulations and advanced analytics for education and training entities throughout Australia.

Ryan's contribution to the industry in WA earned him an invitation to become a Director at the Australia Virtual Reality Network in 2015, as well as an Advisory Board Member to potential VR start-ups in Perth such as ImmersiaVR. Ryan is currently focused on moving forward with the expansion of ‘Sciosity’ and hopes to continue to broaden people's understanding of the applications VR has to disrupt and enhance, both within education and beyond.
