Computer scientist, marketing expert and internet researcher, Professor Thomas Schildhauer, will discuss the concept of open labs from an organisational perspective. He will explore areas including, but not limited to:

  • The interdependences between Digital Transformation and Open Innovation and their relevance for joint work between established (old) business corporates and start-ups.
  • Organisational models and learnings from the Entrepreneurship Lab at HIIG in Berlin.
  • The different types of organisational interventions and their functions, including , accelerators, incubators, corporate labs, and open labs.
  • Research outcomes from the Entrepreneurship Research Lab at Alexander von Humboldt Institute of Internet and Society

About the presenter:

In 1999 Dr Schildhauer founded the Institute of Electronic Business – the first affiliated institute of the Berlin University of Arts, of which he is the Managing Director. In his capacity as Professor at the Berlin University of the Arts, he holds the chair for Marketing with focus on Electronic Business, as well as conducting the Berlin-based Career College and teaching in various master programs.

As executive director of the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society gGmbH, he is responsible for the research area Internet-enabled innovation. Since October 2012, he has held the position of Academic Director of iDeers Consulting, a digital consultancy founded by the Institute of Electronic Business and the Hirschen Group.
