Associate Professor Trevor Cullen has just been awarded a 2015 Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT) Fellowship to ensure Third-year journalism students can demonstrate the capabilities sought after by news organisations.
To achieve this, he will consult with both academics and news editors throughout Australia and then develop new guidelines for the implementation of a final year Capstone (or demonstration) unit for all 29 Australian universities that currently offer journalism courses.
Previous winners include Professor Ron Oliver, Professor Cobie Rudd and Professor Lynne Cohen.
Professor Cullen is the first Journalism educator in Australia to become a life-long National Teaching Fellow.
