Centre of Excellence for Comparative Genomics


Edith Cowan University is a partner in the Centre of Excellence for Comparative Genomics, a West Australian Centre, funded by the Office of Science and Innovation. The Centre incorporates the Centre for Bioinformatics and Biological Computing.

Key partners include: The Australian Public Health Genetics Consortium, Beijing Genomics Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Proteomics International Pty. Ltd., The University of Western Australia and Tokai University School of Medicine, Japan.

Other collaborators include the Molecular Plant Breeding CRC, Grainfoods CRC, Beef CRC; and the Japan Biological Information Research Centre.

The Centre's research and development focus includes:

  • Comparative genomics for wheat and legumes
  • Comparative genomics for animal and human pathogens
  • Comparative genomics as a tool to enhance human gene analysis and diagnostics.
