Cardiac rehabilitation program
Our cardiac rehabilitation program works in collaboration with the Joondalup Health Campus to provide our clients with a holistic rehabilitation program incorporating both health education and exercise.
We offer a program that focuses on promoting lifetime maintenance for cardiovascular health in which physical fitness and additional risk-factor reduction are emphasised.
What is cardiac rehabilitation?
A cardiac rehabilitation program provides a supervised environment to safely increase activity/exercise levels and assist the client in achieving the following benefits:
- improved physical fitness;
- improved heart strength;
- weight loss;
- reduced blood pressure;
- improved stress management; and
- reduced risk for future heart problems.
Who benefits from the program?
A cardiac program benefits clients who have experienced:
- a heart attack;
- chest pain or angina;
- angioplasty or stent procedure;
- bypass surgery;
- heart valve surgery; or
- heart failure.
Program structure
Clients can attend two exercise sessions every week for eight-weeks to focus on increasing physical fitness and improving strength and endurance through a series of prescribed aerobic exercises, stretches and resistance training.
Referral
Prior to commencing a program, all clients will need to obtain a referral from a doctor stating that they are medically stable and able to commence a supervised exercise program.
