Photomedia Summer School in international photo journalism and documentary photography

For several years, students studying photomedia at ECU's School of Communications and Arts have been able to participate in a summer school held at Pathshala: South Asian Media Academy, South Asia's leading photography school. Classes include students from Pathshala and ECU and are led jointly by the school and ECU staff.

The summer school provides a rare opportunity to learn photojournalistic skills and explore issues of photographic representation in an authentic environment, working with Bangladeshi students and world leaders in the field.

Student's benefit by being able to conduct fieldwork in collaboration with Pathshala students, and the relationship helps them tap in to an international network of the world's leading photojournalists.

They are also able to connect with the publishing outlets established by Pathshala and Drik Picture Library Ltd, a world leader in developing countries' photographic representation.

The program also exposes students to issues of substance and international importance which are highlighted through exhibitions showcasing the work of the students on their return, raising awareness of the economic and social challenges faced in Bangladesh.
