WAAPA and industry collaboration
The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) at Edith Cowan University is recognised nationally and internationally for the quality of its graduates and its provision of the most comprehensive range of performing arts training in Australia.
In this creative and supportive environment students pursue artistic excellence both on and of the stage. Every year students, staff and critically acclaimed guest artists collaborate to present over 300 public performances with an increasing number of community partnerships enabling WAAPA to perform in a wide range of external spaces.
WAAPA has developed a network of corporate and government partners as well as relationships with all major performance arts groups in Western Australia, and many nationally.
Relationships with corporate partners include in-kind and cash sponsorships that help underwrite the costs associated with the Academy's annual repertoire of productions. WAAPA also benefits from philanthropic donations from members of the public that fund the selection of prizes and scholarships awarded to outstanding WAAPA students every year. Community partnerships with various metropolitan and regional councils enable students to tour productions and concerts of campus, increasing their community engagement. This has the additional benefit of giving students a wealth of performance opportunities while promoting the WAAPA brand to the greater community.
