Development of a graduate certificate in Executive Leadership and Management for WA Police officers
The Graduate Certificate in Executive Leadership and Management is designed for senior police managers and public safety officers who are seeking a postgraduate qualification to enhance their career progression. The course is co-delivered, with ECU staff providing the theoretical and empirical knowledge relevant to each unit and WA Police executives providing the practical application.
The course has been developed through a process of ongoing collaboration on content and delivery and is designed to be highly practical and useful for the officers in their work.
All units operate within the context of the WA Police environment and look at processes, procedures, management policy and management style.
The final unit of the course is a research project on a police issue and officers are thereby able to contribute to the change process within WA Police.
Attention has also been paid to ensuring the course fits with other professional development that police officers might access and units can be recognised as equivalent to study in other courses.
