ECU, in conjunction with the City of Wanneroo, has launched the Business i Lab, a project designed to cultivate relationships between local businesses and ECU students.

A free scheme, the Business i Lab intends to help local businesses and entrepreneurs bring ideas to life through the input of ECU students by assigning skilled students to pursue appropriate business submissions.

According to City of Wanneroo Mayor, Jon Kelly, "the Business i Lab allows local businesses and students to develop business skills together, strengthening and supporting local business and providing hands-on experience for students." The Business i Lab is open to all industries and the City of Wanneroo invites local businesses and entrepreneurs to submit ideas, challenges and requests for students to progress.
