Soumita Kale is a cyber security student who never sits still. When she's not studying, she's volunteering to run workshops about coding for high school girls or explaining cyber safety to kids.

Becoming a midwife has been a long-time passion for Brodie Hibberd. Now she's on her way with ECU's unique double dose of nursing and midwifery degrees.

Dan's a brickie with a difference. He's studying psychology online with ECU, while juggling work, family and a social life.

Liam Guy's passions include health and science. Little wonder he's now a Health Science student, specialising in Environmental Management and Health Promotion. It's a good career direction too.

After Michaela De Paolis fell in love with CrossFit, it led to a passion for nutrition – food being key to any kind of fitness routine. This led to a career change and a return to uni.

    You get so much hands-on experience and real-world advice from lecturers and tutors who are often professionals in the industry.

    The lecturers offered a no-nonsense approach to the industry and really prepared me for a field of work that is not glamorous and not for the faint-hearted.

    I had no misconceptions about what I was signing up for which made me feel more than prepared for work experience. I have stayed in contact with my lecturer and she continues to help me with my career decisions – even today.

    I would encourage everyone to really find out what nursing is about

    The course at ECU provides clinical practicums at a hospital or medical facility. These practicums allow for hands-on experience. Each semester covers a different set of skills that fall within our scope of practice, and as you progress through your course, these skills increase and allow for more challenging cases.

    The ECU lecturers and tutors are very supportive and approachable.

    I have been on many practicum placements, which have been the most enjoyable part of the course. Although demanding, the placements have provided me with the opportunity to put the theory learnt throughout the year into practice. The placements have improved my confidence in my teaching ability and have prepared me for my own classroom in the future.

    The course has opened my eyes to the diverse range of children's learning styles and taught me various techniques to motive and include all children.

Applying for a course is a fairly simple process, especially if you have scanned copies of qualifications, your resume or other paperwork, ready to upload.
