Student stories

  • Biomedical Science student, Callum Robinson

    Callum Robinson

    ECU Biomedical Science student

I've always wanted to pursue a career in medical research

I heard ECU's Biomedical Science course covered many aspects of medical research, including genetics and human biology, so I saw this as an opportunity to further my education in this field. I've been able to gain practical experience in a laboratory outside of university and found this has increased the value of my CV immensely.

I've also received the Fertility North Prize in Reproductive Biology. This award has opened the door for possible postgraduate studies in an established laboratory.

  • Rocheal-Lee Lock

ECU Bachelor of Science (Nursing) graduate

The clinical practice wards and simulation patients at ECU are as close as you’ll get to the real thing

I've wanted to be a nurse since I was 16 after I helped deliver my aunt's baby, so that just set the wheels in motion. I felt comfortable studying at ECU and practicing my clinical skills before I went go out into the real hospital environment. I can honestly say that my lecturers and tutors were the best of the best.

  • Patrick Ruitenga

    Patrick Ruitenga

    ECU Accounting and Finance graduate

I graduated from ECU feeling confident, and with the ability to be versatile in my career

I began studying at another uni but transferred to ECU because of the smaller class sizes and personable lecturers who made me feel valued and supported. ECU provided a well-rounded degree, allowing me to analyse problems through critical thinking. I also loved interacting with students from different age groups and backgrounds.
