Nutshell Cracked

Thursday, 26 November 2015

We are delighted to announce that our very own postdoctoral fellow Dr Amanda Gardiner has achieved second place in the Arts, Humanites and Social Sciences section of the National Research in a Nutshell Competition hosted by ACU in Sydney recently.  Not only is this a personal accolade for Amanda, but also for ECU and the South West campus.

Competitors had only five minutes and three Powerpoint slides to present their current research in a way that was easily understood by a non-academic audience. Competitors from ACU, Victoria University, Edith Cowan University, Federation University, the University of Southern Queensland, Central Queensland University and Southern Cross University took part this year.

Another ECU winner, Dr Favil Singh won second place in the Science and Health section with his pitch ‘How can we beat the tumour with simple activity?’
