Entries will open from 1 July 2016 following the Open Mic launch event on 30 June 2016 at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre. The competition entries close on 31 August 2016.

There is an impressive range of prizes on offer including cash for Open, Primary and Secondary winners and runners up, plus an opportunity for the winner of the Open category to receive professional writing consultations with ECU’s published authors.

ECU Shore Lines Writing workshops

A series of workshops run by Rachelle Rechichi aims to provide participants with the tools and inspiration to write performance texts. Without focusing on a specific genre of writing, the workshops develop style and voice through word sound, and introduce devices that make the spoken word attractive. Participants will pull apart various texts including the Old English of Beowulf, Dada’s sound poetry, modern spoken word and hip hop lyrics to see what makes them sound great. Participants will put letters together to create new words and experiment with sound and near rhymes and will be encouraged to submit these and other works to Shore Lines, Writing for Performance Festival competition.

To prepare you for your competition entry for Shore Lines you might like to join one of the FREE workshops being offered in July.
