1997-2017: Celebrating 20 years of Social Work Education at ECU

In January 1997 the first cohort of students commenced on the Bachelor of Social Work course at Edith Cowan University’s South West Campus in Bunbury, WA.  This year we are celebrating 20 years of Social Work education at ECU.  Please join us for Professor Trisha Reeves Lecture on 22nd June – this is likely to be a popular event, so please register early.  Further events are planned for later in the year.

Human–Animal Bonds and Professional Practice

During the past 20 years, the social work profession has witnessed burgeoning interest in the human-animal bond and the use of animal-assisted interventions in social work practice and research. This presentation will focus on how the human-animal relationship has evolved over time and the range of animal-assisted interventions currently in use with a variety of populations.
