Writer in Residence at Maker + Co

Local author and ECU academic, Dr Donna Mazza, will be writer in residence at Maker + Co for a week in August. Donna is working on short stories set in contemporary regional Australia. Her work raises environmental and social concerns, and investigates how science changes our lives and how we are challenging the integrity of nature. Donna will be available to talk about writing and share her experiences so please come by for a chat.

Author Biography: Donna Mazza is a South West author whose first novel, “The Albanian” (Fremantle Press, 2007) was awarded the TAG Hungerford Award. Her short stories, reviews and poetry have recently been published with Westerly Magazine, Meanjin, Southerly Literary Journal and Margaret River Press. Her second novel, “Dark LittleGhost”, was shortlisted for the Dorothy Hewett Award for Unpublished Manuscript in 2016. She was awarded the Patricia Hackett Prize (2015) by Westerly for ‘The Exhibit’ and won the Australian Greens Short Story Competition 2016. She teaches writing and literature at Edith Cowan University South West campus and supervises research students in the arts program.
