AUQA is an independent, non-profit
national agency that promotes,
audits and reports on quality
assurance in Australian higher
education.
ECU
had a valuable opportunity
to showcase its achievements
in the higher education arena.
In 2004, the University was
audited by a panel of experts
resulting in 23 Commendations,
12 Recommendations and 7
Affirmations by AUQA.
Following the Audit of ECU,
the University is now required
to provide a Progress Report
(Action Plan) to AUQA against
the Affirmations and Recommendations
noted in the Audit report.
The Progress Report outlines
how the University has addressed
not only the Recommendations
and Affirmations identified
in the AUQA Audit Report, but
also other ECU-identified Opportunities
for Improvement.
At its meeting on 28 November, the Board of the Australian Universities Quality Agency approved the selection of the following institutions for audit, with audit visits to be scheduled in 2008:
- The University of Adelaide
- Australian Catholic University
- Curtin University of Technology
- Griffith University
- University of Newcastle
- The University of Notre Dame
- The University of Queensland
- RMIT University
- Southern Cross University
- Swinburne University of Technology
All these institutions were audited in 2002 or 2003.
Discussions are now under way with these institutions to schedule the audit visits. These audits will commence AUQA’s second audit round, which will end in 2012.
The last audit visits of the first audit cycle will take place in 2007.
In 2007, 2008 and subsequently, AUQA will be auditing some non self-accrediting institutions. The first such audit (of the Australian College of Theology) is currently in progress.
At ECU, AUQA Cycle 2 Working Party, has been established in preparation for upcoming AUQA audit.
